Sole Technology
Sole Technology, Inc. is an American footwear company, specialising in skateboarding shoe production and distribution. It is owned and run by Pierre André Senizergues, a former professional freestyle skateboarder. The company is head quartered in Lake Forest, California.
Soletech has seven brands:
- etnies, the first and largest brand. Established in 1986, it makes footwear and apparel for many "action sports", such as skateboarding, BMX, Moto X, surfing and snowboarding, as well as the music industry.
- etnies Girl, originally part of the etnies brand, it became its own spin-off brand in 1999, and makes footwear and apparel for girls.
- etnies plus, the limited-edition designer line of etnies was formed in 2005 and makes small lines of men's and women's footwear.
- éS, founded in 1995, it focuses on making skateboarding footwear and apparel. (soon to be put on hiatus.)
- Emerica, established in 1996, it produces skateboarding footwear and apparel.
- ThirtyTwo, launched in 1995, it makes snowboarding boots and apparel.
- Altamont Apparel is the latest brand, launched in 2006, makes apparel for skateboarders.
Sole Technology has also developed the Sole Technology Institute (STI Lab), which conducts biomechanical skate shoe research. Their research has led to the development of STI Foam footbed, an insole designed to relieve pressure; Flo2, a heat reducing tongue; and G2, a shock absorbing gel cushion.
